Ingredients

  • For the Steak:
    • 4 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or choice cut, about 6 oz each)
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • For the Creamy Mushroom Sauce:
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (such as cremini or button mushrooms)
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1/2 cup beef broth
    • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
    • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 tsp dried thyme)
    • Salt and black pepper, to taste
    • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Steaks: Season the steaks on both sides with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each steak for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness (aim for 135°F for medium-rare). Remove steaks from the skillet and let them rest, loosely covered with foil.
  2. Prepare the Mushroom Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 4-5 minutes until softened and slightly browned. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add Liquid Ingredients: Pour in the beef broth, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and thyme. Let the sauce simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve: Place each steak on a plate and spoon the creamy mushroom sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
