Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos (for a gluten-free option)
- 2 tbsp beef broth or water
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of spice)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Pat the beef slices dry with paper towels to help them sear well. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of avocado oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Stir-Fry Broccoli: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet, followed by the broccoli florets. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften but remain crisp.
- Add Aromatics and Sauce: Add garlic and ginger to the skillet with broccoli, stirring for about 1 minute until fragrant. Return the beef to the skillet.
- Add Sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, beef broth, and sesame oil, then pour over the beef and broccoli. Stir to coat everything in the sauce, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors meld.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and green onions if desired. Serve hot.
